Interiors: Home Offices
As someone who works from home at times, having an office which you can work in is important. I read somewhere recently that by 2015 trend forecasters have predicted that many offices will be entirely virtual – which is great – Fridays need not be so tedious when you can sit on your sofa and respond to your emails!
Thinking about it though – if you’ve spent a lot of time and effort on creating your idyllic interior for your home chances are that you don’t want to ruin it by having to carve out a niche office space within that … here are some tips to help you create the perfect space from which you can work in your home without disrupting the rest of it!
1) Finding the perfect space
If you’re going to work from home you need to find the perfect space from which you can work. Find somewhere which is quiet and not in the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life – if possible! A good idea is perhaps a shed or an outbuilding – it gives you a little freedom!
Just because the office isn’t in your home means that it should lack any special care. Make sure you fill it with lovely decor and furniture that you like; this will help to encourage your productivity rather than let your mind focus on other unimportant thoughts.
2) Contain yourself!
Try to keep your office in one place. Do this by using a screen or door; for example, that way at the end of the day you can truly switch off from your work.
3) Inspiration
Surround yourself with inspiration … whether it is a beautiful view or a wall full of inspirational pictures make sure you surround yourself by something visual to keep you motivated!
4) Get Creative
Your office is separate to the rest of your home … so why not make the most of this and create a space which is completely different to the aesthetic of your home? Use this space to indulge in an interesting chair, a bright paint on the wall or an unusual desk!
Hope this has given you some inspiration! How would you create your perfect office space?
