Bastille Day is the name given to the French National Day in English-speaking countries. It is celebrated on the 14th of July every year to commemorate the 1790 Fête de la Fédération – the anniversairy of the storming of the Bastille. The Bastille was a fortress-prison and it’s storming was seen as a symbol of a change in France during the French Revolution.
