With the sun out in full force today I really felt like spring may be on it’s way. It’s still pretty chilly but it was light, bright and the sun even stuck around until 5pm! With this in mind – what can you do to update your home for spring in line with the 2013 design trends? It’s become clear that botanical patterns are here to stay; so if you’re looking to incorporate some freshness into your home why don’t you add some plant-inspired prints into your […] Continue reading →

I fell in love with Myra Hoefer’s home this week when I was writing my interior focus post on Fluff & Feathers. What really attracts me to this home is the monochrome palette and mix of french and modern furniture. I think it is such a beautiful home, but calm and relaxing at the same time. Today the room I’m swooning over is a bathroom I found when I was reading Vintage and Chic’s blog … when you look at the snap below it’s really not hard to see why! Growing up I was always told never to mix silver and gold … and I’ve always kind of abided by that rule my mother taught me – until now! Looking at this image I think the gold of the mirror & wall sconces stands out beautifully against the mirrored bathroom cabinet … which in a […] Continue reading →

This is my kind of bedroom! I found this gorgeous room whilst doing my daily bit of pinning on Pinterest … and it is completely my style as well as my favourite colours so I wanted to share it with my readers … I love the simple and strong lines on the furniture mixed with the patterened cushions and rug! Just love love love … I think grey is such a fantastic colour – if you hadn’t guessed by now it is one of my favourites! Mixing grey and teal provides a […] Continue reading →

I was given this gorgeous book for Christmas … Vintage Remix – The Interiors of Kishani Perera. If you’re ever looking for an easy-to-read guide, full of helpful and inspirational pictures then I firmly believe that this is the book for you. Not only are the images gorgeous, the book will walk you through, step-by-step, practical points to consider when putting a space together. Fundamentally, the idea of the book is to help you create a mix of old and new … a space […] Continue reading →

Yesterday I was focusing on Home Office‘s which had the animal print theme to them … today my room inspiration is from Meghan Carter’s blog … Much like Meghan, I grew up thinking that animal print was a bit tacky … but as you’ve seen throughout my blog posts this week I’ve actually come to quite like it. I think if done correctly, i.e. not over the top, adding a little splash of animal print here or there can be a great focal point within a room […] Continue reading →

So as you can see from my Colour Concept and Design Find posts this week – I’m focusing on ANIMAL PRINT! Generally I’ve never been a huge fan of it … but a friend recently asked if I could source her an animal print stool for her make-up desk and I think I’m slowly beginning to change my mind. I think the thing about using animal print within interior design is to ensure that you use one or two key pieces – rather than going animal print crazy if you […] Continue reading →

Yesterday my post was a colour concept inspired by the photo of the two baby cheetahs my father took on his last safari … following on from this I’ve been searching for some animal printed furniture and this is what I’ve found … The Design Fairy x […] Continue reading →

Earlier on in the week I stumbled upon a gorgeous home office which was very much influenced by the Chinoiserie style … I’ve always loved this style, I think its beautiful, elegant and can add a touch of pzazz to any space … So what exactly is Chinoiserie? I hear you say. Chinoiserie is a french term which basically means “Chinese-esque” and refers to a recurring theme in European artistic styles which reflect Chinese artistic influence … this style has […] Continue reading →

Carrying on with my theme of Chinoiserie, yesterday I was inspired by a home office in this design, and today it’s a beautiful dining room … The typical blue chinoiserie style pots and ceramics are there, and they have been placed alongside an elegant deco style mirror to add a hint of glamour to the space. This along with the gorgeous chandelier and subtle chinoiserie style wallpaper in the background brings this room together beautifully! The Design Fairy x […] Continue reading →
