A friend recently shared this furniture with me and I love it … these chairs form the HYBRID Collection by Merve Kahraman. The two chairs have been inspired by the mythologies of parahumans. She has taken the mythology and made a chair hybrid in the form of a stag and a rabbit. The collection is entirely made by hand and available in a variety of different leathers … May I present to you the Hybrid Stag … and the Rabbit … The Design Fairy x […] Continue reading →

A peaceful and serene property, Villa Azure is located close to Camps Bay in Cape Town, South Africa. I stumbled across this home whilst browsing HomeDSG’s website today and wanted to share this beautiful space with you. The property has been decorated throughout in neutral tones and highlighted by beautiful Asian pieces of artwork and furniture. The design is simple yet effective; spacious yet comfortable. The interior has been designed to a luxury standard but cleverly does not take […] Continue reading →

I love this colour concept from Design Seeds … I just love the colour purple – Purple is the colour of riches an royalty, and nothing says luxury like it. From the deepest velvety violet to the prettiest pastel lilac, there is a shade of purple that will work for everyone. The Design Fairy x […] Continue reading →

There is no doubt that technology is becoming ever more important in our day-to-day lives – most of us check our mobile phones first thing or switch our laptops on whilst making morning coffee to see what emails have come in over night. I’ve been thinking about how technology has started to impact on the world of interiors, though. Home entertainment centers are becoming more affordable as technology advances, and the temptation to enjoy your favourite flicks in the comfort of […] Continue reading →

Lighting is such an important feature in design and it can have a massive impact on any space. It can make or break the atmosphere and ambiance of any room, so it is worth taking the time to experiment with it. Whether you are in your kitchen, bedroom, lounge or study all rooms need a variety of light. Think about the activities that take place in the space that you are trying to work as this will help you to achieve and experiment with the correct lighting. Some rooms need ambient […] Continue reading →

Bay windows are a beautiful feature in any room, but sometimes they can be a bit tricky to dress or make use of the space. To begin with, it’s important to note where the bay window is in your home – if it is in your lounge it is likely that it will be used differently to if it were in your bedroom or kitchen. Here are some simple ideas to make the most of this space: Option One - Turn the bay window space into a desk; you can either create a desk within the bay window or simply [...] […] Continue reading →

I was reading through HomeDIT today, catching up on their posts (it’s a great blog) and I came across this home which I have just fallen in love with. I’m a big fan of loft style design so this space is a dream for me … The loft looks over the Old Quarter in Bilbao and as you can see from the photos, allows a lot of light into the space. The Loft is designed around the Terrace of the house, the designer Mikel Larrinaga wanted the interior to be easily accesible to the […] Continue reading →

Earlier on this week we looked at how you could use Bold Colours to enhance your space. Although not a style, per say, I’ve enjoyed looking at the use of Blue in different rooms and how it can enhance a space … what do you think? So don’t be afraid to use Blue in your room … it won’t necessarily feel cold! The Design Fairy x   […] Continue reading →

Hôtel Récamier is a petite B&B on the Left Bank in Paris, with cosy rooms overlooking Place Saint-Sulpice. It’s six storeys of traditional townhouse, with fancy fixtures, wrought-iron balconies and fashionable fabrics. Space may be limited, but the hotel makes up for it with sophistication – and it’s oh so chic, naturally. Once the playground of 20th-century philosophical and artistic rebels, from the Existentialists and the Surrealists to the ‘Lost Generation’ of […] Continue reading →
