Just loving this lounge today for inspiration … it’s traditional in the sense that the design is calm and ordered. Much of the furniture used within the space is outdated and replicated but makes for a comforting space. Everything tends to match and the look is consistent … so typical of traditional design … but then on the back wall is a completely modernist painting which adds interest and brightens up the space completely. It throws off the whole […] Continue reading →
This Fish Dish from Jonathan Adler is the perfect serving plate for al fresco dining this summer … Simplified into it’s essential form, this little fishy is accented by a bold geometric pattern. The Design Fairy x […] Continue reading →
I know I did a blog post about French Connection homewares recently … but I walked past the store again today and just fell in love with their collection … all over again. I love the simplicity of their style. They have incorporated such a soft but smooth and muted colour palette throughout their range with interesting finishes and textures. It is simply chic. I’ve recently fallen in love with anything that has an ikat print on it … I’m not sure what it is about this type of design; perhaps it is the individuality of each print that I see or the mix of colours that are used, but I absolutely love it! Ikat (sometimes spelt Ikkat) is a dying technique which is used to create pattern textiles that employs a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dying. It is an age-old process and is thought to have originated from South East Asia […] Continue reading →

I popped into the store the other day and they have some fantastic pieces … such a mix from contemporary to modern; completely out there to relatively subdued … in a range of colours and textures … One that really caughty my eye was the Urban Rose Rug … Another of my favourites is the Ikat Fashion Design … For something a little more alternative take a […] Continue reading →
I was just browsing My Deco and came across Jan Constantine’s range of embroidered cushions … they were just shouting to be shared … Inspiration for individual designs in the Constantine Collection comes from both real life as well as from favourite things. Jan’s exquisite designs are hand worked on quality natural cottons linens and wools. I want to create something that will bring joy to people and be handed down, just as the embroidery skills of my artisans have been […] Continue reading →
I just stumbled across this gorgeous hotel in Valencia … the Palau de la Mer … The aristocratic 19th Century building is located in the heart of Valencia, close to both the shopping and historic districts. The building itself is a refurbished palace and mixes a combination of historic and modern looks to achieve stunning design. The huge vaulted lobby is a stunning example of how the designer has maintained the grandeur of the space without being too fussy. The simple tones of […] Continue reading →
