Yesterday we looked briefly at contemporary styles of interior design … today here are some pointers on how you can achieve such a look – simply and successfully! 1) Use natural and textural fabrics such as linen or jute. They work to create a natural contemporary feel because of their simplicity. Texture is a very important element in achieving a contemporary interior design style. A variety of textures will ensure that the room doesn’t look flat nor boring. Note in the […] Continue reading →

Loving these contemporary styled homes today. Focusing on a clean-lined approach, this style focuses first and foremost on function and tries to avoid excessive decoration used within other styles. Black, whites and neutral colours tend to dominate the contemporary style … … but through the use of accented features and accessories one can provide colour within a contemporary space … The following pic is by far my favourite – love the contrast shown through […] Continue reading →

Recently visited this great boutique hotel in Marrakech and loved the uniqueness of the interior design I found.     Bab Hotel is located at the heart of the Gueliz district in Marrakech. The hotel comprises of 45 black-and-white loft-style rooms – all with their own balcony or terrace. One of my favourite features of the Hotel though is the Sky Bar. It is like a little oasis in the calm of the buzzing city and the perfect place to look out onto the brightly coloured […] Continue reading →

Made from antique Indian saris each sari carries its own history which is transferred to the ottoman. The designers select and combine the fabrics for each ottoman resulting in one of a kind ottomans – each with its very own identity. For years the antique Indian quilts have been part of HAYs accessory collection. The Design Fairy x […] Continue reading →

This rustic bedroom reminds me of a cosy chalet – despite its minamalism it is still warm and inviting … The combination of the rustic and minimal look highlights the beauty of the wood and its gorgeously warm colour. The complete painless of the room – such as the lack of headboard or rug on the floor – allows all of the wood to stand out beautifully! The Design Fairy x […] Continue reading →

Festival Time!

The festival season is well and truly underway … and the world of interior design has decided to become involved in all of the fun too. The Design Fairy is loving Mini Modern’s Festival Wallpaper this season … The wallpaper has been inspired by the 1951 Festival of Britain and you’ll be glad to hear that Mini Moderns have teamed up with Magpie to create a whole range of plates, mugs, cups and saucers depicting London’s landmarks in the style of the Festival […] Continue reading →
